What's the difference between light and dark roasted coffee?

When you’re at your local coffee shop do you ever wonder what the difference between a light and dark roasted coffee is? Some think the difference is the amount of caffeine. Surprisingly, the lighter roast coffee has more caffeine than dark.  So what’s the biggest difference? Taste.

Taste is the main difference between dark and light roasted beans. Coffee beans get their unique flavors and aromas based on how long they are roasted. Lighter roasted coffee is roasted for less time and dark roasted is longer.  The longer roasting period gives dark coffee its bitter, bold, smoky flavor.

If you’re looking for a sweet flavorful cup of coffee, our Breakfast Blend coffee is for you! If a decadent, smoky rich flavored coffee is what you’re wanting to try, our Vermont Preserve is perfect.

Can’t decide between a light or dark roast coffee? There are medium roasted blends as well!

The length of time a coffee bean is roasted is what gives it its unique taste and aroma. Your preference of flavor should determine which cup of coffee is right for you!
